Mojo Monday #110--Rich Razzleberry Sympathy Card

What a morning! My husband left the house to go off to work with the sympathy card I asked him to mail for me. Several moments later, I heard the front door open and there he stood saying, “Don’t be mad at me! Look at what happened!” He had dropped the card into a large puddle in our driveway…and that was the end of that card.

So, I started all over again using the Mojo Monday #110 Sketch and came up with this card.

 

Here’s what I did:

 

•I followed the sketch using Rich Razzleberry cardstock (5” x 5” square base) and Rich Razzleberry Patterns Designer Series Paper. Gina’s Tip: I love mixing and matching all the different patterns. They coordinate so beautifully.

 

•I stamped the “Butterfly/Flower” Stamp from the Of the Earth Stamp Set onto Whisper White cardstock three times. The first time the stamp was inked normally and then I stamped it two more times, but did not re-ink it so it created two shadows of the original stamp. I punched out the image and added a ring of scallops around it.

 

•I stamped “With Sympathy” from the Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set in Craft Whisper White onto Rich Razzleberry cardstock and heat embossed it with clear Stampin’ emboss powder. I punched out the sentiment using my Modern Label Punch and placed it on top of another Modern Label punched out of Whisper White cardstock and cut in half to make a border.

 

•I added a bow of Rich Razzleberry ribbon on the polka dot side as a finishing touch.

 

Now, I will go out and mail this card myself!

October OCC Color Challenge: With Sympathy Card

 

This week I unfortunately needed a sympathy card and I wasn’t quite sure what direction I should go in. Then I saw the colors in the OCC Challenge and decided that they just might be right for my card.

 

Here are the colors.

 

 

Here’s what I did:

 

●I created a 5-1/2” x 4-1/4” base of Handsome Hunter cardstock.

 

●I ran a piece of Soft Suede through my Big Shot Die-Cut Machine using my Eyelet Texturz Plate.

 

●I cut a piece of Sage Shadow 2-7/8” x 1-7/8” and adhered it to the top of my card.

 

●I stamped the “Floral” Stamp from the Note to Self Stamp Set onto Blush Blossom cardstock using my Versamark pad. With a sponge, I dabbed Handsome Hunter pastel from my Stampin’ Pastels onto the leaves of the flowers and then I dabbed Pink Passion pastel onto the flowers. I adhered the stamped image to the Sage Shadow rectangle. Gina’s Tip: I worked from dark to light on this card—keeping the background subdued and brightening it up in the smaller areas.

 

●I punched out the “Smaller Photo Corners” with my Photo Corner Punch in Sage Shadow and Blush Blossom and adhered them on two opposite sides of my image.

 

●I stamped “With Sympathy” from the Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set using my Soft Suede In-Color Marker onto Blush Blossom and punched out my sentiment with my Modern Label Punch.

 

●For the finishing touch, I placed Soft Suede In-Color Ribbon at the bottom of the card, created a bow and adhered it separately to the ribbon, and then placed my sentiment on the right side of the ribbon.

 

I’m not sure I would have ever reached for these colors if it hadn’t been for this challenge and it’s a little hard for me to tell if I worked them as well as I might have. So, please feel free to leave me a comment and let me know what you think.
