I recently went to the engagement party of my oldest friend’s daughter. I know Becca loves Crate and Barrel, but she and her fiancé hadn’t registered anywhere yet so I decided a gift card would make a nice present.
The October 2009 Stampin’ Success magazine has a great template in it for gift card holders. So I decided to make one for Becca and Keith. Gina’s Tip: When you become a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator you receive the monthly Stampin’ Success magazine for FREE! Just another one of the perks of becoming a part of my downline team! Feel free to e-mail, call, or leave a message here, if you’re interested. I’d love to talk to you!
Becca is having a summer wedding and she chose orange and white as her wedding colors. So I ran with them for her gift card holder.
Here’s what I did:
●Following the template* (see below), I made my base from Pumpkin Pie cardstock and the belly band from Pumpkin Pie Patterns Designer Series Paper (DSP).
●To embellish the front, I used my Eyelet Border Punch on Whisper White cardstock and adhered it to my belly band. Then I stamped three different circles from the “Circle Circus” Stamp Set in Pumpkin Pie on Whisper White. I punched them out using my 1-3/8” Circle Punch and adhered them to the card.
●Lastly, I stamped “Congrats” from the “Fundamental Phrases” Stamp Set in Pumpkin Pie onto Whisper White and punched out my sentiment using my Modern Label Punch. I adhered my sentiment at the top of the card. And, of course, I needed to add a little bling so I placed a Pumpkin Circle Fire Rhinestone Brad in the middle of one of the circles.
Voila! An instant card and gift—in Becca’s wedding colors!
I was so inspired by this gift card holder that I decided to make another one for the holidays to put into my Basket of Cards for the raffle I’m holding at my October 24, 2009 workshop. (Shhh! The cards I’m making are supposed to be kept secret, but I’m not always the best at keeping secrets.)
●For this holder, I started with a base of Sweet Slumber Specialty Designer Series Paper. Gina’s Tip: This paper is now retired, but I had scraps of it left over and you know how much I love to use my scraps!
●Using my Scallop Edge Punch, I punched out a border of the “Red Striped” paper from the Storybook Specialty DSP and adhered it to my Real Red cardstock belly band.
●I wanted to keep this holder simple, so I stamped one of the trees from the “Three Pine Tree” stamp that came with my Patterned Pines Level 1 Hostess Stamp Set in Real Red ink onto Whisper White cardstock.
●The finishing touch for this holder was to dot the snowflakes on the pine tree with my Anywhere Glue Stick and dust Dazzling Diamonds Stampin’ Glitter over the tree which adhered to the glue. Of course, I then shook off the excess glitter.
I hope you like my Gift Card Holders. I had so much fun making them and I can see lots more of these in my future!
