PPA #19--An Old-Fashioned Inspirational Christmas Card

It’s Thursday and it’s the Pals Paper Arts Challenge. This week’s is an inspirational holiday card. Here’s the photo to create your card from. Won’t you join us and add your card to the Pals Paper Arts site?

 

 

Here’s what I did:

 

 
 

•I created my base from Close to Cocoa Cardstock. It measures 5-1/2” x 4-1/4”.

 

•I took a piece of Whisper White Cardstock and ran it through my Big Shot using the “Small Dots” Texturz Plate to create the look of falling snow.

 

•Next I used my Glorious Green Stampin’ Write Marker to color in the “Holly and Berries” stamp from the Leaf Lines Stamp Set, but instead of coloring the berries red, I decided to use my White Signo Gel Pen for them. I huffed on the stamp and stamped the leaves onto Close to Cocoa four times, re-inking my stamp each time.

 

•I love the orange in the Inspiration Photo, so I decided to layer my stamped image onto the “Polka Dot” Pumpkin Pie Patterns Designer Series Paper. Gina’s Tip: Again, I wanted to hint at falling snow. Before adhering this to the card, I used my Corner Rounder Punch for the opposite corners of the polka dot paper.

 

•I inked up my sentiment only from the “Merry Christmas” stamp in the Holiday Best Hostess Level 1 Stamp Set using my Soft Suede In-Color Stampin’ Write Marker and stamping it twice onto Whisper White. I then used the lighter version to mimic the Inspiration Photo. I punched out my sentiment with the Modern Label Punch and adhered it to the corner of my card with a Pop-up Glue Dot.

 

•To add a slight embellishment to the opposite corner, I pierced the corner with my Paper-Piercing Tool and my Mat Pack. It may be a bit hard to see in the photo.

 

•Then to tie the card to the photo, I added the ¼” Pumpkin Pie Grosgrain Ribbon to the leaves and around the white cardstock.

 

I probably never would have thought to use these colors together for Christmas, but I loved the Inspiration Photo and am glad I tried something outside of my comfort zone. After all, that’s what challenges are all about. Stretch your wings and join us at PPA! We’d love to have you!

Holiday Hop #3--Black Diamonds Christmas Card

 

Welcome to Stop #14 on the Pals’ Holiday Hop #3! So glad you hopped on by! Did you love what you just saw at Stop #13, Ann Schach’s blog – the Stampin’ Schach?  I know I did!  

For my holiday card, I chose to feature the Ornament Punch and oh, what fun, I had creating this card!

 

Here’s what I did:

 

•I started with a 6” x 4” base of Basic Black cardstock and layered the “Polka Dot” paper from the Night & Day Specialty Designer Series Paper on top of it. Before adhering the paper, I used my Corner Rounder Punch on the two bottom corners. Then I adhered another layer of Basic Black cardstock, again rounding the two bottom corners.

 

•I stamped three ornaments from the Delightful Decorations Stamp Set in Craft Whisper White onto Basic Black cardstock and dusted them with Dazzling Diamonds Stampin’ Glitter. I then set all three ornaments with my heat tool.

 

•I punched out each ornament with my Ornament Punch and adhered them to my card with Pop-Up Glue Dots.

 

•I drew the ornament hangers with my White Signo Gel Pen and added a bow made from Real Red Grosgrain Ribbon to the middle ornament. To draw attention to this one, I placed a Circle Fire Red Rhinestone in the center of the ornament using a Mini Glue Dot.

 

•Lastly, I stamped my sentiment from the “Teeny Tiny Wishes” Stamp Set in Craft White onto Basic Black and punched it out with my Modern Label Punch. I then punched out a piece of Real Red cardstock with my Modern Label Punch, cut it in half, and popped it behind my sentiment. Once more, I used a Pop-Up Glue Dot to adhere it to my card.

 

For the interior:

 

•I cut out a rectangle of the Polka Dot paper and placed it in the center. I chose a rub-on sentiment in silver from the “Merry & Bright Rub-Ons” and placed it on a smaller piece of Basic Black. To finish off the card, I rubbed on several silver snowflakes.

 

•Now, I will add my holiday note with my White Signo Gel Pen.

Mojo Monday 113--What's Red and White All Over?

 
It's Thursday, but I finally got my mojo on! Here's the Mojo Monday sketch that I followed.

I basically followed the sketch using Real Red cardstock and three different papers from the Christmas Cocoa Specialty Designer Series Paper.

I heat embossed my ornament from the Delightful Decorations Stamp Set and added Real Red grosgrain ribbon to it with a mini-glue dot.

My sentiment is from the "Sweet Season" Stamp Set.

I attached the ornament and my sentiment with pop-up glue dots.

Mojo Monday #109--Christmas Good Cheer Card

I’ve been spending some time this week organizing all of my SU! supplies. I came across an envelope that contained the stamped images I had received in a PALS stamp swamp when the new catty came out in the beginning of the summer. I remembered that I loved the Good Cheer stamps and so I decided to use the sentiment for this week’s Mojo Monday Challenge.

Here’s the sketch:

 

 

Here’s what I did:

●I created my base out of Chocolate Chip Textured Cardstock measuring 4-1/2” x 6-1/4”.

●I adhered a layer of the “Old Olive and Very Vanilla Swirling Leaves” DSP from the Christmas Jingle Simply Scrappin’ Pack. This layer is a 1/4” smaller than the base.

●The sentiment from the Good Cheer Stamp Set had been stamped in Chocolate Chip on Very Vanilla Cardstock. I created a rectangle of 2-1/4” x 2-1/2” of Real Red Textured Cardstock and adhered my sentiment to it and then layered it onto my card. I love the way it looks on top of the Old Olive Swirling Leaves DSP.

●Following the sketch, I added a border of the “Real Red and Very Vanilla Swirling Leaves” Self-Adhesive Die-Cut also from the Christmas Jingle Simply Scrappin’ pack. Gina’s Tip: I’ve said this so many times before, but one of my most favorite things about SU! Products are the way everything coordinates so beautifully!

●I then took out the “Old Olive and Very Vanilla Scalloped Circle” Self-Adhesive Die-Cut and placed the “Poinsettia” Self-Adhesive Die-Cut Pieces inside the circle.

●For the interior of the card, I layered Real Red Textured Cardstock and Very Vanilla Cardstock onto my base and then I adhered the “Christmas Blessings” Die-Cut, leaving plenty of room for a Christmas note.

I highly recommend the Simply Scrappin’ kits for making fun and easy Christmas cards this year.

PPA #12--It's Beginning to Feel a Lot Like Christmas Card

 

Well, actually it doesn’t feel like Christmas yet in NY. It was a bit windy today, but the sun was shining and it felt great walking around outside. However, I must be in the holiday mood. Today’s PPA Challenge is a sketch challenge designed by my very talented PAL, Margaret Moody, and when I saw it, I immediately reached for my Holiday Lounge Christmas DSP. I just love the colors in this Designer Series Paper!

Here’s the sketch:

Here’s what I did:

●I created a 4”x6” base of Sahara Sand cardstock. I adhered the “Sahara Sand and White Circle/Stripe” paper from the Holiday Lounge DSP onto the base.

●Following the sketch, I cut a strip of the “White, Sahara Sand, Ruby Red, and Taken with Teal Small Circles/Stripes” DSP and placed it vertically down the center of the card.

●Then I snipped out the large red ornament from the “Red and Sahara Sand Ornament/Stars/Diamonds” DSP and adhered it to my card.

●Lastly, I cut out a strip of Taken with Teal cardstock and rounded the corners using my corner rounder punch. I stamped my “Merry Christmas” sentiment from the Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set in Real Red onto Whisper White and punched it out with my Modern Label Punch. I rubbed on the snowflakes from the Merry & Bright Rub-ons and adhered the entire strip to my card.

●For the interior of the card, I layered Taken With Teal and Sahara Sand onto my base; snipped out the small Taken With Teal Pine Trees and adhered them to the bottom of the interior, leaving plenty of space for a catch-up Christmas note!
