I’m addicted to rub-ons! Cards come together so easily when you use them. I wasn’t sure what to do with this week’s Mojo Monday sketch, but then I looked at my shelf and saw my Hidden Garden Blossoms Rub-ons in Chocolate Chip and the ideas began to swirl around in my head.
Here’s the sketch.
Here’s what I did.
I made a 7” x 5” base of Chocolate Chip folded at the top. I love Chocolate Chip with Old Olive so I looked through my Designer Series Papers (DSP) and found an Old Olive patterned sheet in the Cast-a-Spell DSP that wasn’t too Halloween-y. I actually thought it almost looked floral.
I added my rub-ons to match the sketch (changing it up slightly). Gina’s Tip: The sketch challenges are jumping-off points. They give you basic ideas, but you can change the templates as you make your card. To balance the large flower, I placed two of the rub-ons on Very Vanilla cardstock. Since my sentiment is small, I wanted it to pop so I stamped it in Pumpkin Pie on Very Vanilla and adhered it to the rub-on.
Last but not least, I added a Circle Fire Rhinestone Brad in Pumpkin to the center of the large flower for a little pizzazz!
The Hidden Garden Blossoms Rub-ons are no longer available, but you can find plenty of other beautiful rub-ons on pages 176-177 of the 2009-2010 Idea Book and Catalog. For quick and easy cards, there’s nothing simpler!
